3 Introduction to WWFY The team was founded in 2002.
Our team emphasizes not only the fundamentals of competitive swimming, but good sportsmanship, positive attitude, personal responsibility and honesty. There has been a continual growth in the amount of swimmers in our program along with the competitiveness of our swimmers.

We are a family orientated swim team Offer a personal one on one approach in our coaching Focus is on the importance of learning the fundamentals of swimming Invested in seeing each of our swimmers grow throughout the season Swimmers bonding and making lasting friendships out of the pool

Schedule, Meets, Important Dates, Extra Handouts Will receive an invitation within the first few weeks Main form of communication Best way to communicate with the coaches In Person Coaches are available before and after practice

6 Parent Expectations Get your swimmer on deck in suit, goggles, and cap at scheduled starting times Watch practices from the viewing window Stress the expected proper conduct while at the Y and in the locker rooms Make sure swimmer’s are picked up within a reasonable time Don’t compare your swimmer to other swimmers Support your swimmer by being their number 1 fan! Volunteer to help Allow the coaches to coach

Meet Officials Administrative Official Stroke Official Each team required to have at least 1 trained official Training provided by YMCA Meet Volunteers Timers Crash Area Supervision Team Representative

11 Swimmer Expectations Be on deck and ready to swim at practice times with all equipment Follow pool and YMCA building rules Swim from wall to wall Circle swim at practices Keep head above water and eyes on the coach when not swimming Be caring, honest, respectful and responsible Ask a coach when you have questions Have FUN!

12 Levels Level 1 Level 2 Level 3 Practice 3x week
Emphasis will be placed on learning all four strokes Level 2 Practice 4x week Emphasis will be placed on stroke technique, endurance, starts and turns. Level 3 Practice 5x week Emphasis will be placed on technique, endurance, and team commitment. Longer distances will be swum regularly.

13 Practice Schedule TBD TBD TBD Practices begin on Tuesday, September 12th until late-March Expected to attend at least 2 practices a week. Level 3 add dry-land practice Tues/Thrs 5:30-6:00

14 What to Bring to Practice
Level 1 Goggles, water bottles, and swim caps Water Bottle! Level 2 & 3 Goggles, fins, pull-buoys, paddles, water bottles and swim caps Dry-land Athletic shoes and attire, water bottles

15 Gear Equipment Fins - Rubber fins with a long blade medium/short blade
Pull buoy Paddles- FINIS Agility (1, 2, or 3 dot)

16 Team Suit Available at B & B Aquatics Speedo Endurance+ Cyclone Strong

17 Meets Signups and information for meets will be posted on the team website. Availabilities must be updated on our website to be entered in the meet. Changes can not be made once the deadline has been passed Failure to attend a meet once your child is entered will result in a fine. $25 charge for small meet $50 charge for any invitational meets $100 charge for Regional or Area Championships

18 Meets Small Meet Invitational Meet
Single day meets with two or three other teams with limited events. Typically last 6 hours No Fee to attend Invitational Meet Larger swim meets that are conducted in sessions that can span an entire weekend. Require an advance entry process Fees to attend Championship Meet (March 2-4; March 16-18) End of the season meets (Regional Meet and Area Meet)that span an entire weekend Qualifying times to required for the Area meet
