Ordinal Numbers
What is an ordinal number? Lets brainstorm a few examples.
In French, an ordinal number is made by taking the number and adding an –ième to the end of it. First step, take the number and subtract the final e, if necessary. For example: 6 is six + ième -) sixième 11 is onze + ième -) onzième
Ordinal numbers are adjectives and come BEFORE the noun.
Exceptions Un -) premier (première) Cinq -) cinquième Neuf -) neuvième
After an election, these were rankings of candidates. Write these out in ordinal numbers. For example, Georges est le neuvième Richard: 5 Marc: 2 Nora: 3 Sam: 7 Mike: 1 Louise: 4 Natalie: 6 Jean: 8
