Implies a “know-how – to act” process What is Competency? Implies a “know-how – to act” process involves the necessary knowledge and capacities that a given situation requires.

What is Competency? an instructional objective described in task-based terms that include a verb describing a demonstrable skill such as answer, interpret, or request. Example: "Students will be able to ..."

Characteristics of CBLT It teaches language in relation to social contexts in which it is used. It establishes graded objectives: the definition of short – term goals, each building upon the one before, so that learners advance in knowledge and skill.

Characteristics of CBLT It is used for language teaching in situations where learners have specific needs and where language skills they need can be predicted or determined. is built around communicative competence and seeks to develop functional communication skills in learners. ( through specific real – world tasks)

Characteristics of CBLT Language mastery is necessary as well as interpersonal relationships. It allows judgment and appropriation on one hand and motivation on the other hand.

Characteristics of CBLT It more concerned on the product rather than the process of training.
