Microscope use

Get the handout from your teacher – it will help you take notes.

Watch the following video and take notes! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOhF7LauOys

More to know Microscope slides are made of glass! They can and will break if not treated carefully. Microscopes are very expensive. The typical microscope you are working with costs at least $500. They can and will break if not treated carefully. You break it, you pay for it!

More to know When using a high power lens, ONLY use the fine adjustment knob. Remember, slides are glass. The objective lens can break the slide by pushing on it.

When in doubt….ASK YOUR TEACHER! Always remember! When in doubt….ASK YOUR TEACHER!

Get ready for the lab! Study for the microscope parts and function quiz. Get the lab from your teacher. Read the lab before coming to class. The lab will combine what you have learned about living vs. non-living organisms and cells. Remember your lab safety rules! Come to class prepared to complete the lab.
