ENERGY. KINETIC ENERGY ENERGY OF MOTION THE FASTER AN OBJECT MOVES; THE MORE KE IT WILL HAVE KE IS ALWAYS “+”, IF YOU ARE MOVING; THEN YOU HAVE IT. EXAMPLE:
Total Mechanical Energy The total mechanical energy of a system is defined to be the sum of: The total potential energy of the system The total kinetic.
WORK, POWER AND ENERGY. WORK Work is done ONLY when a force moves an object Work is a force acting over a distance If an object does NOT move when a force.
Work = work is done when a net force on an object causes it to move a distance W = Fd Or Work (measured in joules) = Force (N) times Distance (m) Is work.
STORED ENERGY Wood is stored chemical energy until it is burned and the potential energy is released. A ball held above the ground has potential energy.
Potential Energy Review of Work Work is the product of force and distance. W = Fd If work is done on an object its energy is changed If the work done.
Work F The force, F, pushes the box for a short distance. This causes the box to start moving!!!!!! I just don’t have any energy  Whoa!!! Now I do!!!

Presentation transcript:

Man Vs Pulley

Iron Men

Overview The ball is released down one incline and triggers a pulley to release another golf ball. The second golf ball travels down another ramp landing in a jug which is initially in equilibrium with the weight. Finally a 1 kg weight moves an approximate distance of 1 meter.

Energy Conversions Ramp Containers 1 kg mass Ball Kinetic Energy Gravitational Potential Energy to Kinetic Energy

Project Difficulties Supporting Wood Frame Alignment Accurately measuring distances of theoretical values. Factoring in unknown energy losses. Scheduling Conflicts

Conclusion I never want to major in architecture. Teamwork: Simply stated, it is less me and more we I never want to major in architecture. We learned how to apply theoretical energy in a real world environment. Glad EF 151 is over. Not looking forward to 152.
