Angus Go for Gold

Background Angus falls service and dementia liaison team had noted that level of physical activity was low in care homes. Make every moment count resource launched. Generations working together

Aims To increase levels of physical activity for older people living in Angus care Homes. To provide opportunities for community engagement.

What we did Go for gold - learning event where we first thought to develop our event to include generations working together. Key representatives from all partner agencies met on a monthly basis to plan and organise the event. Poster competition - school pupil Activity choices - CHAIN

On the Day 177 team participants from schools and care homes, volunteers, sports leadership pupils. Aged between Banner parade Dignitaries NYCoS Angus Branch

Outcomes 100 % answered yes to organising another event. 75% said they were very confident about organising physical activities. 25% said they were quite confident

Comments - what worked My favourite bit was the wellies We enjoyed making friends with everyone and having fun together Were coming back next year. Fab to see 4 generations working together.

Comments - what could we have done better? Drug testing Shorter times for each activity Sausage rolls would have been nice Heavier ball for the skittles More water/juice available throughout the event.
