Grade 8 Minnesota SRC - Youth Level 1 Position Required Qualification both Punctual - arrive 30 minutes prior to game Appearance - full uniform, tucked in , black shorts (no stripes), socks center Correct restart for following: Throw ins, goal kick, start of game Start of game:   coin toss, correct  ball, correct number players, goal and field safety Keeping up with Play- show an interest in the game and keep a close enough distance from the play (typically 6-10 yards)to be in a position to assess each situation. Whistle Tone – the referee’s whistle tone must increase as the situation escalates - when in danger areas, loud and long duration to stop play Use of Arm Signals for the following: goal kicks, corner kicks, throw ins, goal scored Throw Ins: recognize bad throw-ins and proper restart Training Focus Appearance Confidence Mechanics of the positions Positioning to make the call

Why we use this Method 2017 Results from another club 1632 Total Positions 96% Fill Rate!!! Two U9 games had no center All U11+ games had center and at least 1 AR Email from a Grade 6 referee Daneen and Brian, I'm out on the Rec fields right now near G/H and I have to say, these kids are fantastic.  You have six referees out here who are setting a new standard for young refs.  Shirts are tucked in, socks are pulled up, whistle tone is brilliant, signals are crisp and visible, and most important of all, every single one of these referees look involved in the game.  You two and your mentors are really doing a fantastic job with the young refs this year.  Honestly we have the best Rec referees I've seen.
