Global Benchmarks Slide 3 A great majority of countries are doing it, the list is far from exhaustive. Just chose a few examples to highlight. $5 billion - managed by the Federal Communications Commission - to support wireless expansion into rural areas and a total of $18 billion in federal funds to get 98 percent of the nation connected to the Internet on smartphones and tablet computers in five years. The Korea Communications Commission (KCC) announced plans to upgrade the national network to offer 1 Gbit/s service by 2012, an upgrade from the prior 100 Mbit/s guarantee. The plan was intended to cost 34.1 trillion won (USD $24.6 billion) over the next five years..
