Vocal Jazz Ensembles

What are they? Vocal Jazz ensembles are a capella or jazz band accompanied groups in which numerous voices of each range are put together in such a way as to create a jazz style sound and feel.

What are they composed of? Most vocal jazz groups have between 4 to 12 singers of all parts. ( Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass) If it is an all Men’s or Women’s group, it will contain two of each specific part ( just ladies- soprano 1 & 2, alto 1&2 or just guys- tenor 1&2, baritone, and bass)

Vocal Jazz Composition

What music is performed? There is a wide variety of selections that these groups can do. They perform music that could be popular today a capella, or even simple jazz tunes with lyrics.
