Aramid Manufactured Fiber

Description & How It’s Made Aramid fibers are man-made high-performance fibers, with molecules that are characterized by relatively rigid polymer chains. These molecules are linked by strong hydrogen bonds that transfer mechanical stress very efficiently, making it possible to use chains of relatively low molecular weight.

Advantages & Disadvantages Strength Abrasion Resistance Non-conductive No melting point Low flammability Not absorbent Difficult to cut/grind without special equipment Suffer corrosion in UV light

Use of Aramid Body armor Heat-protective clothing & helmets Asbestos replacement Tires Ropes & Cables Hockey Sticks Tennis Strings

Cleaning & Care Aramid should never be cleaned with Bleach. Clean with Oxy Clean instead.
