2. KEVLAR It is the registered trademark for a para-aramid synthetic fiber. Discovered by Stephanie Kwolek, Kevlar is a thin, very strong fiber. It has an excellent heat resistance. It is best known for its use in bulletproof garments. Developed in the 1960’s-1970’s.

3. Para-aramid Para-aramid fibers, provide outstanding strength-to-weight properties.

4. THERMAL PROPERTY Kevlar also has a thermal property. Its thermal property maintains its strength down to the temperature (−196°C).It is slightly stronger at low temperatures. At higher temperatures the strength is immediately reduced by about 10–20%, and after some hours the strength even reduces further.

5. APPLICATIONS ARMOR Kevlar is a well-known component of personal armor such as combat helmets, Ballistic face masks, and Ballistic vests.

6. PERSONAL PROTECTION – Kevlar is used to manufacture gloves, sleeves, jackets, caps and other articles of clothing designed to protect users from cuts, abrasions and heat. Protective gear based on Kevlar is often considerably lighter and thinner than equivalent gear made of more traditional material.

8. SPORTS EQUIPMENT – It is used as an inner lining for some bicycle tires to prevent punctures. In table tennis, plies of Kevlar are added to paddles, in order to increase bounce and reduce weight. It is also used for motorcycle safety clothing, especially in the areas featuring padding such as shoulders and elbows.

10. AUDIO EQUIPMENTS – Kevlar is sometimes used as a material on marching snare drums. It allows for an extremely high amount of tension, resulting in a cleaner sound. Remo's "Falam Slam" Patch is made with Kevlar and is used to reinforce bass drum heads where the beater strikes.
