IMPORTANT VOCABULARY Decimal- a number with a decimal point separating the ones from the tenths place. Percent- the ratio that compares a number to 100. Conversion- the act of changing from one use or function or purpose to another.

Rules for Decimal to Percent Multiply Decimal by 100 ****A trick to doing this is to take the decimal point, and move it two places to the right. Then, just add in your percent sign********

Rules for Percent to Decimal Divide Your Percent by 100. ****A trick to doing this is to take the decimal point in your percent, and move it two places to the left. Then, just take away the percent sign.********

Since we are dealing with decimals we are going to go over our decimal place value chart so you know how to read you answers correctly.

INTERESTING MATH FACT!!!! Even though you have converted your decimal to a percent, your percent can still be a decimal. Take this for example. 4.56789x100= 456.789%

Now it’s time to show you how to convert decimals to percents and percents to decimals. Let’s open up activinspire to apply these rules to some examples!

Convert 1.7342 to a Percent and Choose the Correct Answer 17.342% 173.42% 1,734.2% 17,342%

Convert 72% to a Decimal and Choose the Correct Answer 0.72 7.2 72.0 720.0

WE HOPE YOU WILL CONTINUE TO REMEMBER HOW TO CONVERT DECIMALS TO PERCENTS AND PERCENTS TO DECIMALS!!!!!!
