1 Lesson 4-3 Solve proportion problems by using the percent equations
Where is this useful??? SHOPPING!!! This is definitely one of those “life skills” days!!!

2 PERCENTS & DECIMALS REVIEW
Percent (%) means per hundred. To change a decimal to a percent Multiply the decimal by 100 Write a percent sign after it Multiply the decimal by 100 (move the decimal point 2 places to the right) Write a percent sign after it

3 To change a percent to a decimal
Divide the percent by 100 Omit the percent sign Divide the percent by 100 (move decimal 2 places to the left) Omit the percent sign

4 PERCENTS AND DECIMALS REVIEW
Convert the following decimals to percents: E 44.5% A 15% 1.5% F 11.11% B 0.5% 62.5% G C 104.2% H D. 0.9 90%

5 PERCENTS AND DECIMALS REVIEW
Convert the following percents to decimals: E. 1.5% 0.015 A % 0.2345 0.25 F. 35% 0.35 B. 25% 0.125 G % C % 3.1 H. 310% D. 45% 0.45

6 The percent equation is % = 100 of

7 Figuring out what goes where?
is % = 100 of What number is 15% of 10? What percent of 60 is 3? P = 15 10 = 100 3 = r 60 = 100 10 * 15 = 100P P = 1.5 3 * 100 = 60r r = 5%

8 Figuring out what goes where?
is % = 100 of What is 0.48% of 250? 640 is what percent of 32? P = = 100 = r 32 = 100 250 * 0.48= 100P P = 1.2 640 * 100 = 32r r = 2000%

9 Figuring out what goes where?
is % = 100 of What percent of 170 is 68? 11% of 521 is what number? 68 = r = 100 P = 11 = 100 68 * 100 = 170r r = 40% 100P = 521 * 11 P = 57.31
