Presentation transcript:

Creative Process The process by which things are created from idea to completion; in art, engineering, music, writing, architecture, construction, science, automotive, technology, fashion, cooking and so many more areas.

So, what is creativity? Creativity is when something new and valuable is created (such as an idea, a joke, an artistic or literary work, a painting, a musical composition, a solution, an invention etc.) Creativity can also be defined "as the process of producing something that is both original and worthwhile" or "characterized by originality and expressiveness and imaginative".

1. BRAINSTORMING / RESEARCH This is when you come up with ideas and a general plan for your work, including lists, quick drawings and writing. This is also when research and reference images are collected.

2. THUMBNAIL SKETCHES This is a set of small quick drawings (anywhere from 4 to 25 or more) in which you plan out a variety of possible compositions for your work. **COMPOSITION: The arrangement layout and/or use of space.**

3. COMPREHENSIVE (and MEDIA PRACTICE) This is a small, rough version of your final in which you decide on colors, textures and techniques to be used in your final work. Usually 2 or 3 are done.

4. FINAL ARTWORK This is where all your planning for composition, color and techniques comes together. This takes the most time and should have excellent craftsmanship.

5. REFLECTION / EVALUATION This is completed mainly at the end of the final project. It usually involves a group critique and/or individual written reflection. This can also be done during a project to assess progress.
