4 Skill: drawing, coloring, blending, tracing Craftsmanship: quality lines, evenly blended colors, accurate perspective Creativity: shows originality in choice of color and blending technique as well as in overall design Comprehension: identifying vocabulary in discussion with teacher and classmates and/or identifying elements/principles of art and utilizing them in finished art work Communication: teacher will observe during discussion with class, with partners or individually Assessment: Teacher observation and finished art work

5 Common Core: Math: counting flower petals and bridge railing, 1 pt. perspective, visually dividing space, observation of natural patterns, mixing proper amount of water with watercolor paint. Reading (6+1): rough draft of project with the influence of paintings by Monet, original ideas in rough draft, organization of ideas, voice in image with color choices and application of materials, evokes feeling or mood (word choice), elements/principles of design utilized effectively (sentence fluency), craftsmanship and presentation (conventions) discussion about what the art work of Monet communicates to the viewer(reader). Differentiation: ~choice of direction of paper ~choice of shapes used to create lily ~choice of colors used and application of color ~rough drafts and observation used as formative assessment to guide individual instruction
