The Effects of Language on Culture and Identity Video exercise

Video exercise In this video exercise, we will watch an episode of a British TV documentary called “Fry’s Planet Word.” Please consider the effects on culture and identity of different forms of language.

Consider Please consider the implications of different languages and how they influence people’s culture and identity: What effect does language have on people’s way of thinking and living (either through their culture or identity)? How do different languages vary in their style? Are there any other interesting points you noted?

Remember Note down as many examples as possible so we can discuss it in the next class class.

References The TV documentary is called “Fry’s Planet Word” and it was first shown in 2011 by the BBC. The presenter is Stephen Fry. There are 5 parts. This episode is called Identity.
