Presentation transcript:

FIRST find the latitude line Start at the equator and locate your latitude line from there. North latitude lines are above the equator. South latitude lines are below the equator.

SECOND fine the longitude line Find the prime meridian and locate your longitude line from there. West longitude lines are to the left of the prime meridian. East longitude lines are to the right of the prime meridian.

THIRD find where the two lines cross

SO HOW DO YOU SAY IT?? 40º N, 100º E “40 degrees north, 100 degrees east” 60º S, 40º W “60 degrees south, 40 degrees west” 80º N, 140º W “80 degrees north, 140 degrees west”

REMEMBER: Always find or say the latitude line first (you do them alphabetically). Follow the lines slowly and carefully to make sure you are accurate.
