Informed Citizenry By: Baleigh Roach

America has had more that one government America’s first government was called the Articles of Confederation. The Articles of Confederation failed because the state government was more powerful than the federal government . The government we have used since it failed has kept everything balanced and had worked ever since.

The State has a constitution, just like the Country. I didn’t know until I took this class but, every single state has a constitution. And it is different from the federal constitution. Each state has their own statutes. Which is state laws.

Everybody should know their rights Everybody should know the bill of rights, or their rights.

Why the US became independent The US became independent because they were tired of being taxed by England. And England's government was to powerful. We were taxed for no reason, we had to keep soldiers in our house because we were told to. We had to do everything that England told us and we were tired of it.

What a liberal and conservative is Liberals and conservatives are also known as Republicans and Democrats. Republicans are conservatives and liberals are democrats. There is other parties but these are the major ones.

The 3 branches of the government Legislative- makes laws (HOR, and senate) Executive- carries out laws (President) Judicial- Judge law and interpret constitution

The political process First you have the primary election, then there is a national convention, then the general election, vote, and then you ballot the votes.

What type of government we have Every citizen should know we have a democracy. A democracy is a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives. It is ran by the people.

Separation of powers Under the separation of powers, each branch of government has a specific function. This is so one branch wont overcome another branch.

Courts Everyone should know that there is a state supreme court, a NC court of appeals, NC district court, and a NC superior court. They should also know which court handles what cases.
