Legislation = making laws
Responsible for proposing and passing laws for the country
Two houses:
House of Representatives: Representation by Population
The Senate: Equal representation for each state

Must be at least 25
US Citizens for 7 years
Serve for 2 years
Only house allowed to propose taxes
Must be 30 years old
US Citizens for 9 years
Serve for 6 years

5. Executive Branch Found in Article 2 Describes the presidency
3 main roles: Commander in Chief [military], Chief of State[citizenship], and Chief Executive [enforcing laws]
Must be at least 35
Must be a natural-born citizen

6. Judicial Branch Found in Article 3
Establishes highest court: Supreme Court [SC]
SC job is to interpret the constitution
Judges picked by President
SC has the power to strike down federal AND state laws as unconstitutional
To change a state law first, must go through state courts first, then appealed

7. How a bill is passed Member of House of Reps or Senate proposes a bill
Members of the proposing house vote and if it passes, it goes to the other house
Debate and vote is had at second house
If approved by both, goes to President to sign
If vetoed [not signed], 2/3 majority in both houses passes it anyway
