Homework Homework folders go home every day. Homework needs to be completed by Friday. We will send home homework journals later when we start written responses to comprehension questions to go along with the nightly reading.

Classroom Management Behavior Management  Our classroom will be using a variety of methods in regards to classroom management.  We will not be using the color system with clips.  Behavior will be directly addressed with each student.  Students will receive specific feedback with praise through notes, Marvelous Monkeys, and parent phone calls or emails about behavior.  These will include positive choices or specific areas that need to be practiced.  Student consequences will be logical consequences.  By doing this, we will be addressing the specific behavior and re-teaching the expectation. For example, if a student is not walking in the hallway appropriately, the consequence would be to practice walking in the hallway while the teacher points out what they are doing correctly.  Our class will also participate in Dragon Dollars!  Dragon Dollars are a positive behavior incentive that is a school wide program at Douglas.  We will earn them individually and as a class.  As a class we will create a list of ways to celebrate as we earn dragon dollars.  At the end of the quarter we will create a new chart of incentives.  Individual students will earn dragon dollars throughout the year as positive reinforcement for their behavior.  As a class we will create a list of things and activities that the students would like and periodically they will be allowed to shop.

Our Class Promise Peacemaker Promise SAFE! RESPONSIBLE! RESPECTFUL!   In our class, we promise to be… RESPONSIBLE! -Raise your hand –Do your job –Do your work -Help others -Take care of your materials -Follow directions the first time RESPECTFUL! -Be quiet when others are talking -Be kind --Listen -Use kind words and actions SAFE! -Walk --Keep hands, feet and objects to ourselves -Be in control of our voice and actions

This includes chapstick, lotion, cough drops, etc. Absences must be accompanied by a note upon return. The only type of absence that is excused is an illness, doctor's appointment, or injury. More than 10 unexcused absences or 20 unexcused tardies are followed up with by the school social worker. Please review policies in WCPSS handbook Birthday Celebrations: Student can bring in a book to share during share time.

Field Trips We will try to have 4 total. (2 plays and 2 in-school science) Chaperones are welcome! Must have clearance prior to attending the trip. Can be done in the media center. Must provide own transportation and admittance/entrance fees. Younger siblings are not permitted on all field trips due to space limitations. Please return all forms/money by the due date.
