SWBAT Students will be able to accurately respond to varying questions in French based solely on clues from the question word.

Question Words you might hear Qui? Que? Qu’est-ce que? Quoi Lequel? pourquoi

ou? Comment? Combien de? a quelle heure? Quand? Quel(le)? Est-ce que?

Answering Qui A qui question is always looking for a name. When you hear qui, answer with a name.

Que/ qu’est-ce que Both mean what. You need to give an item or an action depending on your verb. Que fais tu? - Je nage Qu’est-ce que tu as? - la tarte

Quoi quoi is always after a preposition. It means what, but you’re going to need a lequel sentence to answer. Avec quoi manges-tu? Voici la fourchette avec laquelle je mange.

Lequel If the object is in front of you: celui or celle If not, use a lequel sentence.

Pourquoi: why Give me a reason for something

ou- where Whenever you see this, give me a place.

Comment :how Generally speaking, you are going to answer with a bien or mal here

Combien de: how many Give me a number

A quelle heure/ quand ALWAYS answered with a time.

Quelle - which You’re going to need a lequel sentence here.

est-ce que It just makes the sentence a question

Si: if You need to respond with a correct si sentence. This is easier if you begin by repeating the si clause from the question.
