The COORDINATE PLANE The COORDINATE PLANE is a plane that is divided into four regions (called quadrants) by a horizontal line called the x-axis and a vertical line called the y-axis. QUADRANT II QUADRANT I QUADRANT III QUADRANT IV

The COORDINATE PLANE The ORIGIN is the place where the x-axis and the y-axis intersect. The coordinates of the origin are (0,0) ORIGIN (0,0)

The COORDINATE PLANE A POINT on the coordinate plane can be represented as an ORDERED PAIR. An ordered pair is written in the form, (x, y). The first number x indicates the distance to the left or right of the origin, and the second number y indicates the distance above or below the origin. (2,5) (-3,4) (4,-2) (-1,-3) Plot the point: (2,5) (-3,4) (-1,-3) (4,-2)
