Engineer Training UV Lamp Head TJ8300 / TJ8500 Confidential 4 General (Cont.)

Engineer Training UV Lamp Head TJ8300 / TJ8500 Confidential 5 Components The UV lamp head includes: Ultra violet (UV) lamp Shutters Reflectors Quartz plate filter Air extraction windows Water tubes and ducts

Engineer Training UV Lamp Head TJ8300 / TJ8500 Confidential 6 UV Lamp

Engineer Training UV Lamp Head TJ8300 / TJ8500 Confidential 7 UV Lamp (Cont.) The lamp is the heart of the UV system. Lamp power is up to 200 W/cm (36kW). The lamp, by nature, cannot be switched On or Off instantly. When the machine is in Idle mode: The lamp switches to the reduced power level of 30%. The shutters are closed. Lamps operating temperature is 650°C - 850°C.

Engineer Training UV Lamp Head TJ8300 / TJ8500 Confidential 8 Shutters Shutters are closed when the machine is not printing. Shutters are automatically activated when the machine starts to print. Shutters are operated pneumatically.

Engineer Training UV Lamp Head TJ8300 / TJ8500 Confidential 9 Shutters (Cont.) Shutters open Shutters closed

Engineer Training UV Lamp Head TJ8300 / TJ8500 Confidential 10 Reflectors Upper Shutter The Reflectors

Engineer Training UV Lamp Head TJ8300 / TJ8500 Confidential 11 Reflectors (Cont.) The reflectors are manufactured from pure aluminum, anodized for protection and treated to give maximum UV reflectivity. The reflectors absorb heat and reflect UV. The reflectors minimize the IR power and maximize the UV power.

Engineer Training UV Lamp Head TJ8300 / TJ8500 Confidential 12 Reflectors (Cont.) Min IR Max UV Absorb heat and reflect UV Upper Shutter

Engineer Training UV Lamp Head TJ8300 / TJ8500 Confidential 13 Reflectors (Cont.) IR Power UV Power

Engineer Training UV Lamp Head TJ8300 / TJ8500 Confidential 14 Quartz Plate Filter The purpose of the quartz plate filter is to: Prevent the media from touching the reflectors and the UV lamp. Prevent ink fumes from entering the lamp head. Quartz Plate Filter

Engineer Training UV Lamp Head TJ8300 / TJ8500 Confidential 15 Air Extraction Windows The purpose of the air extraction windows is to: Allow the lamp head to cool down by extracting the heat from its vicinity. Remove the small quantities of ozone that are generated around the lamp. Air Extraction Windows

Engineer Training UV Lamp Head TJ8300 / TJ8500 Confidential 16 Water Tubes and Ducts The purpose of the water is to cool down the UV lamp head. The ducts are located around the UV lamp head.
