Only combine terms that are exactly the same!! Whats the same mean? –If numbers have a variable, then you can combine only ones that have the same variable –You can also combine numbers that have no variables

Examples Which numbers are the same? 5x, 8y, 9z, 10, 12x, 14z, 7 Same: 5x and 12x Same: 10 and 7 Same: 9z and 14z

Lets try it! 4x + 9x 13x -7y + 9y 2y -8y + (-4y) -12y 4x + 8y + 10x 14x + 8 y 5 + 8x + 7y + 10 8x + 7y + 15
