Kerosene lamps have a wick or mantle as light source, protected by a glass chimney or globe; lamps may be used on a table, or hand-held lanterns may used for portable lighting.

A bulletproof vest is a special dress made in the form of more or less resembling a vest, designed to protect against bullets fired from a gun like a pistol, a rifle and a shotgun. The inventor of bulletproof vest.

The power of bullet was absorbed in the successive layers of fabric the vest was made of. The material used in the production of the vest was silk - as there was no other known with a higher fibers strength. The design of the bulletproof vest consisted of several layers of densely woven silk impregnated with a special substance ( its name was kept as a secret for many years). Szczepaniks invention was patented in 1897.

The first tests of the bulletproof vest were carried out in Vienna in 1901.

The inventor is testing the vest himself.

Alfonso XIII - King of Spain photo from 1901 The inventor became world famous in 1902 when the carriage covered with bulletproof fabric saved the kings life.
