PMILIC Vision and Mission Statements The PMI Long Island Chapter is dedicated to the advancement and practice of project management and supports local individuals and organizations; enabling them to embrace, value, and utilize project management to achieve success. Mission The PMI Long Island Chapter is the premier multi-disciplined project management association in our community that provides both a forum and support for project management practitioners. We are dedicated to serving all individuals, businesses, organizations and educational institutions within the field of project management throughout Long Island. • As a Chapter we are aware of the value Project Management brings to the practitioner and the business community. 3

PMILIC Chapter History The Long Island Chapter of PMI® covers the geographic area of Nassau and Suffolk counties in New York State. Founded in 1999, our Chapter was the first in New York State to become incorporated (June 2000), and has grown in membership to around 900 members, representing more than 400 different Long Island and New York City employers. • As you can tell this Chapter has been in existence for over 10 years serving many industries and continues to grow thanks to members such as yourself. • Our intent is to represent the PMI at a local level.

PMILIC Chapter History, continued Each of the ten meetings a year (September – June) is formatted to include a time period designed to foster networking and to provide a forum for local employment firms and training providers an opportunity to present their services through Career and/or Vendor corners. During these sessions, a featured topic is either presented or discussed via a facilitated panel of subject matter experts (SMEs). Additionally, the Long Island Chapter provides a forum for its members to sustain their PMP® Certification credential by participation in one or more of the many enhanced service related initiatives. • We meet monthly to bring project management educational value and share our knowledge with you, our members.

Volunteerism All of our new programs aimed at strengthening and advancing the chapter, as well as a wealth of other continuing operations, are dependent on the efforts of a large number of chapter volunteers. Volunteering provides great education opportunities enabling you to gain experiences that you may not be able to obtain in your current work environment. The most valuable part of being a volunteer outside of the rewarding experience is the ability to earn free PDUs. Volunteer positions also look great on your resume! To find out more about PDUs you can contact volunteer@pmilic.org. “Giving can be one of the most rewarding experiences in life. Volunteering has a positive effect on your community AND yourself.” If you are interested in volunteering please check our website for additional information, www.pmilic.org or contact volunteer@pmilic.org. 10 PDU’s can be earned by attending every Chapter meeting, 5 for working 6 consecutive months as a PM and the remainder from education and/or volunteering. Our Chapter is solely run by members who volunteer their time. • Please see Hilary Levy to join our efforts.
