11/5 Topic: Sorting Your Fact Cards Day #2 Aim: How do I sort my fact cards? Do Now: Once you have your folder, take out your Research Packet and your source cards.

Work Cited Turn to page 19 in your research packet and read the directions. Step #1 – Take your colored source cards and put them in alphabetical order. Use the first word on the card, unless it’s a, an, or the. If the first word is the same than use the second word. Step #2 - Type your cards or neatly write them on a piece of paper.

Work Cited Reminders: Do NOT number your sources on the work cited. Do not double space your citations. Make sure you indent if your entry takes up more then one line. You may have to hit enter and then indent if it takes up more then one line. Make sure your punctuation (periods, commas, quotes, underlining, etc.) matches the sample. A sample work cited is on page 19 in your research packet. . . . Due Monday

Research Packet - Page #19 Directions: A work cited page is arranged in alphabetical order according to the first letter of the first item, except for a, an, and, the. Take your colored cards and put them in alphabetical order and then type them or write them on a piece of paper. Center and type the words, Works Cited at the top of the page. The work cited entries are single spaced (12 point font, Times New Roman) and the second line of each entry is indented 5 spaces (tab).

Organizing Your Fact Cards - Day #2 Finish the organizing we started Friday. Reorganize each pile either chronologically or in an order of the direction you see your paper going. After you have organized your cards, have your partner check your piles. See if they think your piles flow like a story.

Check Your Organization If you are missing information ask your partner where in the specific source you can find the information. Make sure you have at least two cites per body paragraph Last day to sort in class

Check Your Organization Then label the piles with a post it note and rubber band them together. Put your fact cards in your folder and take out your source cards. If you are not done sorting, you can come in: Today at Lunch Tomorrow Morning or at Lunch Thursday Morning or at Lunch Monday Morning

Homework Finish your Work Cited (25 points) Take home your source cards (colored index cards) Information & the example from the research packet is on my website (HW Page) DO NOT TAKE HOME YOUR FACT CARDS You might have HW the next few nights leading into typing on Friday.
