1 10/28 Topic: Typing Your Research Paper
Aim: Can I properly type my research paper? Do Now: Sit in alphabetical order Take your research folder Take out your Red 8 Writing Packet (this is not the research packet) if you did not do this yesterday.

2 Typing Type your thesis statement then type your body paragraphs, your conclusion then type your introduction. No out line or rough draft If your piles are set up and organized correctly then all you do is type your topic sentence then your facts. You type the cards in the order they appear in your pile. As you type, create a second pile of cards that you have already typed, put them face down type and flip.

3 Typing One pile at a time . . Then put the pile away and take a new one Cards should not be all over the place. While you are typing you can re arrange a few cards. While you type you need to add: Transitions (transition sheet in your English/Social Studies writing packet) Proper Citations Concluding/transitional sentences to the end of your body paragraphs

4 Typing If you are using a direct quote you still need a citation after it. Do NOT abbreviate names unless you are citing the information. When you type you might realize that your paragraphs are too long so you will have to split them. 4 sentence minimum per paragraph Spelling and grammar count.

5 Typing You will have about 5 periods in school to type your paper.
You are NOT working on the paper at home. Save your paper as often as possible.

6 Typing Times New Roman Font
12 Point Font Title can be 14 point and bold Double Spaced . . .One space between paragraphs Proper Heading (single spaced) & Title (name of person) Sit alphabetically No talking (treat this like a test) When you are done typing go to Mr. Holzer’s Website (research paper) and look at PowerPoint.
