Causes of the Rise of Nazism p. 166 CRCT notes “The Rise of Nazism” About 2 ½ million Germans lost lives 4 million Germans wounded Industry and farms destroyed. Highways, bridges, railroads needed rebuilding

Causes of the Rise of Nazism The Treaty of Versailles stated: Germany had to pay back Allied countries for WWI damages, so losing money... Germany forbidden to have large army/navy, so military lost jobs.

Causes of the Rise of Nazism Prices went up, because goods were scarce. Men couldn’t find jobs to support families. People blamed govt. The stock market crashed in the U.S., so people around the world stopped buying as much.

Causes of the Rise of Nazism National Socialist (Nazi Party) claimed they could fix Germany’s problems. 1933- Hitler named chancellor of Germany, so: -took complete control of the govt. -had a dictator’s powers: - had factories built to make more weapons. -hired unemployed workers to build highway system

Causes of the Rise of Nazism German’s who spoke out against Hitler were imprisoned or killed. 1938- German’s controlled Austria and Czechoslovakia 1939- Germany invaded Poland France and Great Britain declared war on Germany = WWII began.
