What’s a mentor? A person who: Provides helpful information Offers support and advice Acts as a sounding board: let’s me know I’m not alone Understands my goals and helps me achieve them

Why should I have a mentor? Students who have mentors: Are more confident Feel less stressed Have more opportunities Establish career goals Develop professional networks Are more likely to stay in their major and graduate

Who could be my mentor? Faculty members Professionals in my field Peers Senior students Students in my class Having more than one type of mentor is very helpful!

How can I find a mentor? Get to know people in class Meet the CS faculty Go to CS department functions Join professional societies Take advantage of every opportunity to network!
