Library Book Selection & Care By April Major

Get a shelf marker Put the shelf marker on the shelf Remove the book Decide whether to check it out If yes, pull out shelf marker and check it out. Then put up shelf marker. If no, put book back where shelf marker is, then put up shelf marker. Use a shelf marker, you cant go wrong, Put books back where they belong.

Use your hand to open a space. Make sure the book is standing tall. Make sure the spine is showing for all to see. Make sure the call numbers are at the bottom of the spine.

Choose a book Go to the circulation desk to either Mrs. Major or Mrs. Marilyn Give them your book and say your last name Then sign your book out Go find a place to read quietly

You should have clean hands when reading books. Keep all food and drinks away from books. Do not read at a table where people eat. Eat a snack before or after reading. Keep books away from anything wet No reading books in the bathtub! Keep your books clean and neat, Away from all you eat and drink.

DO NOT bend down the corner of a page to mark your place. ALWAYS use a bookmark to mark your place. If you do not have a bookmark, use a piece of paper. DO NOT use thick things as a bookmark. If you need to save your place, Stick a bookmark in that space.

Remember to turn pages slowly. Remember to turn pages carefully. If you accidently tear a page, please bring it to the library to be fixed. If you find a tear, please bring it to the library to be fixed. Turn the pages with great care, Leave them whole without a tear.

Keep books in a safe place. Do not write or color in books. Keep books away from babies and pets. If an accident happens with your book, please bring it to the library and explain. Keep books safe and out of view, from little ones and dogs that chew.

Remember to bring books that have tears to the library. Most tears can be fixed. If something happens to your book, come to Mrs. Major and explain.

Return books on time so others can check them out. Remember to put your book in the book tub on the morning of your library class. If you dont return your book, you dont get a new book until it is returned. If you lose your book, let me know so I can tell you the cost for replacement. Books returned during open check-out times need to be given to Mrs. Major or Mrs. Marilyn. Return your books when they are due, So others can enjoy them, too.
