Presentation transcript:

PROMPT The Situation: The nature of beauty is one of the most enduring and controversial themes in literature, philosophy and the arts throughout history. Contemporary conceptions of beauty are often associated with the physical attributes of something or someone, yet beauty has traditionally been counted among the ultimate values, with goodness, truth, and justice. What do you think about beauty? What is beautiful to you, and what do you think about how authors and artists have defined beauty in various contexts? The Task: Based on your experience as an adolescent, and using evidence from the sources provided by your teacher, write an argument in which you take a clear position on the definition of beauty: What is beauty to you? How have others in literature, philosophy and the arts described beauty throughout history? What do YOU think?
