Settlers by the 1,000s leave the cities and head west with “Oregon Fever” Santa Fe Trail- William Becknell takes a trip down to Santa Fe to trade with Mexico, since borders have opened with Mexico winning its independence. Merchants and traders will follow opens New Mexico to trade and eventual settlement Mormon Trail- established by the Mormons who were escaping religious persecution… in America. They left, following the Oregon Trail before heading South into what was Mexico… or Utah. This will begin settlement of the Utah Territory.
