By Rachel Robertson Book by Gary Paulsen Hatchet survival kit By Rachel Robertson Book by Gary Paulsen

First is the Hatchet I choose the hatchet as my first item. The reason I choose the hatchet is because it would help Brian make things. Like how in the book Brian used his hatchet to make weapons such as the spear and the bow and arrow and also he learned how to make fire with the hatchet.

Water proof matches I choose water proof matches as my second item. The reason I choose water proof matches is because Brian would need them to start a fire to keep animals away, to make heat and to send off a signal.

first aid I choose the first aid kit as my third item. I choose it because if you get hurt you would need something to heel it. Like Brian did he got spiked by a porcupine and didn’t have a first aid so I think that is were it would come in handy.

food I choose food as my fourth choice. I would choose that as my fourth choice because Brian would need it because in one part of the book he says his stomach hurts so bad it has a stabbing pain in it.

emergency kit with food water clothes and other stuff. The reason I choose the emergency kit as my fifth item because Brian would need it so he would not have to sit in the same clothes and have to hunt for food every time he was hungry.

blanket I choose blanket as my sixth item, because if he would not have brought a blanket he could not keep himself warm if it gets cold out at night or if he is there in the winter it would be cold the whole time he was there.

map I choose a map as my seventh item, because if he got lost he would need a map to get where he wants to go. Like in the book when he wants to go hunt for food it would have been a good idea to bring a map so he knows where to go.

compass I choose a compass as my eighth and final choice, because if you have a map and it shows a picture but you might not know what direction so if you have a compass it will tell you what direction you are going.
