Both the CDC and the FDA recommend hand sanitizers as an important addition to a hand washing regiment, but never an alternative.

Hand Sanitizing Demo Use the hand sanitizing posters to illustrate the three steps in proper hand sanitizing. Demonstrate the ‘palms up, fingers in’ method which allows for the nail beds and cuticles (where most germs hide) to be fully saturated. Then rub hands together and let dry.
