POST GRANTS APPOINTMENT SERVICE A UKVI/DWP JOINT INITIATIVE Organisation: Home Office, UK Visas and Immigration Project name: Post-Grant Appointments Service Project start date: 31 January 2017 Project end date: 31 July 2018 Overall Aim(s) of the Project: To provide Post-Grant assistance to those eligible with the completion of applications for mainstream benefits and appointment/interview bookings.

POST GRANTS APPOINTMENT SERVICE A UKVI/DWP JOINT INITIATIVE WHAT IS THE POST GRANTS APPOINTMENT SERVICE? When an asylum applicant is granted leave to remain in the UK they cease to be eligible for financial support from UKVI and, if requiring ongoing state assistance, must apply for mainstream benefits provided by DWP/ HMRC. The financial support and COMPASS accommodation provided by UKVI come to an end 28 days after the person is notified that they have been granted leave to remain. It is essential that they begin the process of transitioning to DWP/ HMRC benefits at the earliest opportunity to ensure that there is continuity between these two provisions.
