Dynamic Keyboard IV Team P12003 PHASE IV Project Goal: To create a PC keyboard that would enrich text communication with expression via typing force Phase IV Eliminated the “ghosting” and sample time issues experienced by Phase III. Final physical and electrical modifications were made to provide a “finished” product to NTID. Additional testing was done in order to characterize opportunities for enhanced data. Design Results Entire electrical and mechanical package was upgraded to provide error free data. The aesthetics of the DK now meet spec. Successfully data was captured by team and customer testing protocols are under IRB review. Dynamic Keyboard Top View Phase III Dynamic Keyboard Rear View Pneumatic Test Fixture Phase III Created the final prototype by modifying an existing off-the-shelf keyboard, implementing force feedback via LEDs on the keyboard, and optimizing the force sensors’ location with a new custom made PCB. Phase IV Dynamic Keyboard Rear View Final Phase - Phase V (eta 2012) Create a software application that would use the Dynamic Keyboard force outputs to enrich text with expression. Phase II Created the initial prototype by modifying an existing keyboard and using a custom made PCB with pressure sensors under the keys.
