Microsoft Office 365 CLOUDPBX A telephony solution for the EUROPEAN SMB market?

Office 365 basics A new way of licensing Microsoft Office software Easy download of subscribed software to your PC Adds internet browser access to services like email, sharepoint, document storage, cloud apps (outlook, word, powerpoint etc.). Skype for business + cloudPBX PSTN Call (fixed/mobile) Skype for business (SfB) is the high quality business version of Skype with the ability to set up videocalls, calls, chat, share screen and programs, record etc. With CloudPBX Microsoft is adding the functionality of calling and receive a call from your Skype for business app on PC/IPAD. Two ways of getting started with CloudPBX. You can port your fixed number of Microsoft or get new numbers from Microsoft . These can be easily managed in Office 365. This means that you move your existing agreement on fixed telephony from your existing telephony provider to Microsoft . THIS SERVICE IS ONLY AVAILABLE IN THE US FOR THE MOMENT. You can install a Skype for business server in your own datacenter which communicates with CloudPBX (Hybrid solution ) and thus connect your existing telephony services with CloudPBX.

SOLUTION 1 The solution requires : Positive Drawback Conclusion Office 365 E5 license or the CloudPBX license separately Porting your numbers from your existing telecom provider or get new numbers from Microsoft A subscription on local or international calling from Microsoft Positive Users can make and receive calls from mobile/landline with a PC and tablet. Drawback The price on the phone service from Microsoft for the European market is not launched yet There is no main numbers, switchboard service or response group functionality Conclusion This can be a good solution for the smallest companies, 1-5 employees, with the need for only basic calling

SOLUTION 2 Requires Positive Drawback Conclusion A Skype for Business server in your local datacenter Positive Create a hybrid solution that provides the link between the existing telephony solution and CloudPBX. Drawback Not 100% cloud based and needs an in-house datacenter installation Conclusion This is a solution for larger companies that already have a local Skype for Business implementation or they want to have control over their own telephony solutions internally. For the SMB market that is heading into a 100% cloud based world this will probably not be a good solution.

EUROPEAN ALTERNATIVES The trend today is that SMB companies are moving to the cloud and want their telephony and Microsoft Office environment to be connected into one communication platform. Seen from a telephony point of view there are two alternatives to CloudPBX: Mobile-oriented SMB companies have a Mobile Enterprise Switchboard solution from their mobile provider. Many of these mobile providers now offer connections to Lync/SfB solutions to extend their mobile subscription to also be used for calling from PC and IPADs. Calls from Skype for Business (SfB) is then included as part of call minutes in your mobile subscription. If your company is using fixed numbers, wants to move to the cloud and have requirements regarding how customers are routed, when they call your main number, you should look into pure Skype for business telephony connected solutions. The BIZSKYPE service from Cloudx is a good solution for both alternatives that are not dependent on the existing Microsoft Office 365 plan or exchange email implementation.
