Make Lasting Memories. Tell Meaningful Stories. Problem: People want to tell stories with their experiences, not just post a few pictures. Despite this, consistently capturing memories across multiple formats and later putting them all together presents a high enough barrier to entry that people ultimately don’t do this. Solution: We make consistently creating, compiling, and sharing detailed experience-based stories a quick and easy process.

Task 1 - Simple Task 2 - Moderate Task 3 - Complex Record Memories in various formats Task 2 - Moderate Medium-Fi Prototype: Explore Posts based on Location (Previously: View Friend’s Posts) Task 3 - Complex Create a new “TidBit” and post Because we omitted the social network part of our project (detailed in the Redesign section), we needed a separate task 2, and found that exploring others’ posts based off of location was an ideal substitute.

Redesign 1: Make Difference between Recording vs Tidbit Creation clear Old New Rationale: Users in low-fi testing were confused about the difference between “memories” (individual pictures, videos, etc) and TidBits (auto-generated posts). To make this more clear, we added reminders for when to create Tidbits. While we are still calling individual files “memories”, we felt that by making TidBits more visible, users might be able to more easily grasp the concept that TidBits are auto-generated posts, rather than memories.

Redesign 2: Making TidBits Old New Rationale: From testing, we discovered that users wanted creating TidBits to be a more “automatic” process. So, we removed the part of TidBit creation requiring the user to sort through memories. Instead, they set preferences they want the app to use to filter and fetch memories, and the blog is auto generated. We still allow them to add more detail.

Redesign 3: Removing Friends Old New Rationale: In addition to the other redesigns, we completely removed the “friends” part of out app. We received feedback that this wasn’t core to what people felt was our app’s concept. However, we still wanted to facilitate “sharing meaningful memories,” so we instead allow users to view posts by others based on location. In this sense, it’s very similar to posting a blog on the internet.

Task Flow #1: Record Memories Click on “Picture,” “Video,” or “Audio” to choose recording format. Video Recording Screen Audio Recording Screen Photography Screen

Task Flow #2: Explore Posts Based on Location Fill in Location and Date Range Click “Discover” to see location -based TidBits

Task Flow #3: Create and Share TidBit Insert location and date range to filter Memories Filter Memories by location, date, and resolution Add captions to TidBit and click “Post” to share Posts TidBit to Profile Click to Preview and edit created TidBit

Tools Tools used: Figma What worked Can easily collaborate with other group members Built in prototype feature is helpful Sometimes features are unintuitive (e.g. exporting) Easy to copy and paste existing screens What didn’t work Impossible to create screens for all clickable actions Cannot swipe/scroll/pinch Hard to show that changes persist Tools used: Figma In addition to this, some of buttons that require one to multiple linking, such as the back button, couldn’t be implemented due to Figma’s UI (ex. It would be helpful if you made a photo, went to the camera roll, and went back to the camera screen; our prototype doesn’t do that just yet)

Limitations/Tradeoffs Edits to TidBits do not last due to lack of actual database To simplify the flow, we did not include some functionality User creating a new account We created a flow for the user where they have to look at recording functionality first Not possible for the user to edit their profile or enter information while creating a TidBit

Medium-Fi Prototype - “Wizard of Oz” and Hardcode All of the possible inputs are hard coded as of now User doesn’t have option of choosing frequency User’s profile is already made for them User’s TidBits already have pictures and details User’s TidBit preferences are already set User’s Explore settings are already set
