The Higher Course The Course is based on 3 units: Scottish : The Impact of the Great War 1914-1928 British:1851-1951 European and World: Germany 1815-1939

Scottish: Impact of the Great War Scots on the Western Front Domestic Impact of War Domestic Impact of War: Industry and Economy Domestic Impact of War Politics

British Topic - 4 areas Covered How Britain became democratic Why women gained the vote Why Liberal Reforms passed Effectiveness of the Liberal Reforms All areas must be revised in preparation for the final exam. This will ensure that there will always be at least one question that you can answer.

Germany Topic: Areas Covered Reasons for the Growth of Nationalism in Germany 1815-1850 The degree of Growth of Nationalism in Germany, up to 1850 The reasons why the Nazis achieved power in 1933 The reasons why the Nazis were able to stay in power 1933-39 All areas must be revised in preparation for the final exam. This will ensure that there will always be at least one question that you can answer.

You will have 2 hours and 20 minutes to complete the paper. The Exam One Paper in three sections Scottish Section: 3 Source based questions British Section: 1 extended Response from a choice of 3 essays Germany Section: 1 extended Response from a choice of 3 essays You will have 2 hours and 20 minutes to complete the paper.

Marks Paper will be marked out of 60 20 marks available for each section Estimated 120 minutes to complete your answers 20 minutes for deciding questions, reading sources etc

The Assignment This will be marked out of 30 You will have 90 minutes to complete this task You will complete this task in March You will bring a resource sheet into the class when completing your Assignment The resource sheet will be one page of A4 and can include: Bullet Points Sub headings Mind Maps Quotes from sources Internet research

How the Assignment is marked Introduction with context and relevant factors identified – 3 Marks Analysing different factors contributing to an event or development(Always analyse factors in terms of the question) – 8 Marks Evaluating factors to develop a line of argument (counter arguments or interpretations) – 4 Marks Using Information form sources referred to , in order to support factors – 4 Marks Using Knowledge to support factors – 8 Marks Coming to a conclusion - 3 Marks
