Presentation transcript:

As mentioned above, one requirement is achieving the Father McGivney Award.

This award recognizes a council for Membership Net Gain Growth by an annual increase of at least 5%.

An additional requirement is achieving the Founder’s Award by generating a net increase of 2.5 percent for insurance members during the fraternal year.

Your insurance agent can be a great help in achieving this goal, so work with him.

A third requirement is the Columbian Award A third requirement is the Columbian Award. This award recognizes a council for outstanding service programming.

To qualify, your council must conduct at least four events, covering each of the five main service categories – church, community, council, family, and youth. The good news is, these programs and events don’t have to be big. They just have to be effective. You need to submit the Columbian Award Application (SP-7) by June 30th.

You’ll also need to file the Service Program Personnel Report (Form 365), listing all your council’s directors and committee chairmen as well as your Council Chaplain.

This form is due by August 1st This form is due by August 1st. As noted earlier, it’s important for the Supreme Council to know who comprises your Council’s leadership so appropriate information can be sent to them.

In addition, you have to file the Annual Survey of Fraternal Activity (Form 1728) by January 31st.

As mentioned earlier, this form lists all the dollars spent and hours devoted to volunteering. In addition to being required for the Star Council Award, this form also provides proof of the Knights of Columbus’ annual charitable givings.

The final Star Award requirement is “P. C The final Star Award requirement is “P.C.” – which stands for per capita. What it means is, your council must be current with all Supreme Council per capita charges on June 30.

And that’s what goes into being a Star Council- it’s a great accomplishment you and your members can savor.

STAR COUNCIL Attitude

Once obtained, you’ll be presented with the Star Council Award, personally engraved to recognize your accomplishments as grand knight!

There’s even a flyer in your Surge…with Service kit that will help you learn how to design your own brochure and make best use of the specially printed full color paper.

There are five things a new member must do in his first year of membership, and they’re listed here. By providing an incentive to do these things, you get new members involved, and once involved, they tend to stay involved. Since one of the five activities is recruiting at least one new member, you have a virtually self-propelling engine for growth.

Everything you need to execute the Shining Armor Award program is pictured here and available from the Supreme Council. All you have to do is ask to receive these materials.
