Presentation transcript:

Hello Scholars! Make sure you have a reliable writing utensil when class starts. Double check to make sure your name is on your cave art worksheet.

Essential Question What do primary and secondary sources tell us about early humans?

Social Science Process Yesterday: we made observations about artifacts to create a hypothesis. Today: we will gather more information by reading History Alive! to learn what archaeologists have learned about the artifacts.

Let’s look at the class example again Open History Alive! to page 8.

Sample Notes for Class Example The image shows a hunter wearing a bird mask being attacked by a bison. The bison is wounded and there is a broken spear thrower. Scientists think the image was created as part of a ritual (ceremony). Now, write these notes under where it says “Read Section 1.4…”

Directions for Notes Read History Alive! to learn what the experts think about the artifacts. Write notes for each artifact under “Read Section…” on the worksheet. Write complete sentences and fill your entire space.

Closure Put your Cave Art worksheet in the middle of your table. Stand up and push your chair in. Quietly wait to be excused.
