Pascal’s and Bernoulli’s Principles Pascal’s and Bernoulli’s Principles

Pascal’s Principle When a force is applied to a confined fluid, the change in pressure is transmitted equally to all parts of the fluid. Ex. Squeezing a tube of toothpaste.

Hydraulics Hydraulic systems are based on Pascal’s principle. Squeezing liquid in one area creates a pressure in another area. EX. Car brakes

Bernoulli’s Principle As the speed of a moving fluid increases, its pressure decreases. This is how airplanes fly.

Uses of Bernoulli’s Principle Smoke rises in the chimney as air blows across the top of the chimney creating low pressure Frisbee’s can fly
