Fractions and Percents Objective: We will learn to compare quantities by using percents. Learn to write fractions as percents and percents as fractions.
A percent means “out of 100”. It describes a part of a 100 A percent means “out of 100”. It describes a part of a 100. 60% means 60 per hundred (or out of 100). So 100% represents a whole. To change a fraction into a percent: Percent means “out of 100”, so you need to write a fraction with a denominator of 100. For example: 7 × 4 = 28 25 × 4 = 100 = 28% * If a fraction is already over 100, the numerator is the percent, for example: 75 = 75% 100
Examples: Write each fraction as a percent. 3 20 2 25 36 50
