Presentation transcript:

This time it’s personal… WWII This time it’s personal…

Hitler breaks his promise Hitler takes the rest of Czechoslovakia a year after the Munich Conference Hitler now wants Poland. Britain and France state that any attack on Poland will lead to war.

War is unavoidable Hitler knows if he attacks Poland he will have to fight Britain and France. He DOES NOT want the Soviets to join on their side. Hitler decides to make an agreement with the USSR to avoid a two-front war (at least for now).

The Nazi/Soviet Pact Stalin allows Hitler to attack Western Poland for lands lost during WWI and Eastern Poland. The pact is signed on August 23rd, 1939 Poland is now defenseless against both Germany and USSR.

WWII officially begins Hitler invades Poland Blitzkrieg-lightning war. Full display of German military might. Polish have outdated weapons and cavalry forces to defend themselves. Britain and France declare war on Germany
