IP Education Academic year 2008/2009 – almost 2 million students at 445 universities and higher education schools (130 public) previously „Intellectual Property” optionally introduced to curriculum – individual decision of particular university now Since the academic year 2008/2009, intellectual property issues have been introduced as obligatory into syllabuses in all faculties of academic schools. Number of lecture hours: First degree studies (BA): 4 hours introduction + 15 hours (1 semester) Second degree studies (MA): additional 15 hours (1 semester) PhD studies: 10 hours

IP Education Insufficient number of teachers Proposed solution - postgraduate training (2 semesters):  participants – scientific staff from different faculties  free of charge – financed by Ministry of Science and Higher Education  under development - consortium of 4 universities to „train the trainers” e-learning  elaboration of IP issues  access through website  Use of WIPO-KIPO-KIPA IP Panorama® toolkit

IP Education & Training In preparation: Educational Website Portal, containing updated information related to different subjects of IP protection Workshops on how to perform advanced prior art searches Postgraduate studies on IP management

IP Education & Training Creating Innovative Attitudes Some of PPO’s own initiatives:  Annual competitions for the best theses on IP protection, marketing and management of exclusive rights as well as art competition for the best poster on these issues  Conferences, workshops, seminars PPO’s involvement in various projects:  Scientific Picnic in Warsaw  Young Masters/Champions of Technology Contest  Technical Knowledge Contest  Inventiveness Contest  Children’s Universities – PPO’s input into innovation oriented programs
