Question: Using a case study assess the advantages and disadvantages mass tourism can bring to a country or area (7) A - A* (Level 3) Up to C (Level 1) C to B (Level 2) Para 1 Introduction   Para 1 There are many advantages that tourism can bring   Para 1 Tourism can bring many advantages to a country. Para 2 Social   Para 2 For example, in Kenya, tourists spend money on hotels, food and souvenirs in the local economy.   Para 2 The main advantage is the money brought into the country by the tourists   Para 3 Environmental   Para 3 This makes jobs for local people and then they can afford food and shelter and improved living standards.   Para 3 Tourists spend money on hotels, food and souvenirs which can benefit the local people.   Para 4 Economic   Para 4 However, sometimes not all of the money goes to the locals. In Kenya, many of the hotels are owned by companies with headquarters in MDCs so often the money goes straight to the owners in these countries, rather than to the workers in Kenya.   Para 4 However, tourism can create pollution and overcrowding in some places, so there are some negative impacts of tourists.   Special extra words to use (+ anny figures you can remember) Vodaphone Hilton Dole Nairobi water shortage Maasi Mara   Para 5
