Male Anatomy Ms. E

Terms Ureter: tubes that connect the kidney to the bladder Urinary bladder: holds urine

Testicle: male sex glands that produce sperm Epididymis: comma shaped structure located on each (above) testicle; stores sperm

Scrotum: sac that holds the testes and regulates the temperature of the testes. Cowper’s gland: 2 small glands in the male that discharge seminal fluid during ejaculation (also adds fluid to semen)

Vas deferens: 1 of 2 tubes that conduct sperm from the testicles toward the penis Seminal vesicle: 2 small glands that secrete a fluid that nourishes and enables sperm to move

Prostate gland: surrounds the urethra, located beneath the bladder, adds fluid to semen Urethra: bring urine and semen out of the male

Penis: male sex organ Foreskin: skin on the tip of the penis – commonly removed at birth (circumcision)

Pubic bone: protects internal reproductive organs Rectum: entry to colon; exit for feces

Maintaining the Health of the Male Reproductive System Regular Medical Check Ups Self Checks Protective Equipment in Contact Sports Monogamous Relationship Safe Sex or No Sex Healthy fibrous Diet (Cruciferous Veggies)

Malfunctions Testicular Cancer & Prostate Cancer Strangulated (Entangled) Testicle STI’s Not a malfunction but a Vasectomy is when the male partner has the Vas Deferens cut and tied off.
