Receive After the Wise Men had left, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, ‘Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him.’ Then Joseph got up, took the child and his mother by night, and went to Egypt, and remained there until the death of Herod. This was to fulfil what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet, ‘Out of Egypt I have called my son.’. From the Gospel according to Matthew, chapter 2, verses 13-15

Engage Mary, Joseph and Jesus were refugees. They had to flee from Israel to escape Herod’s persecution.

Respond Amen Lord Jesus, your parents were forced to flee from Herod’s murderous fear. Have pity on those who flee their homes today. Lord Jesus you travelled a dangerous road to Egypt. Have mercy on those who travel on unsafe boats, in the back of lorries, or with help of traffickers because they can find no other way. Lord hear our prayer for their safety And let our cry come unto you. Amen
