AP Capstone™ Overview AP Seminar and AP Research 2015 Developed in response to feedback from Higher Education, AP Capstone launched this fall in 136 schools worldwide – expanding to over 225 additional schools in fall 2015. is an innovative program that equips students with the independent research, collaborative teamwork, and communication skills valued by colleges. The program is based on two new AP courses: AP Seminar and AP Research Emphasizes Critical Skills Needed for College & Beyond Complements the in-depth subject-matter study in AP This slide is not lesson related but could be used to help students get a handle on the course. AP Capstone was developed at the urging of the College Board's higher education membership who wanted a program that allows students to learn the skills necessary for success in college and beyond. The AP Capstone curriculum reflects learning outcomes identified by leading organizations regarding what students should be expected to know and be able to do once they graduate and once they earn a post-secondary degree. AP Capstone fosters inquiry, research, collaboration, and writing skills through the intensive investigation of topics from multiple perspectives. The AP Capstone program model provides college-level rigor and is customizable and affordable for schools and students. AP Capstone does not require schools to implement a whole school program and does not require any annual fees. Implementing AP Capstone can be done seamlessly by schools over two academic years. The AP Capstone program empowers students to: synthesize information from multiple perspectives apply skills in new situations and cross-curricular contexts collect and analyze information with accuracy and precision craft, communicate, and defend evidence-based arguments practice disciplined and scholarly research skills while exploring relevant topics that appeal to their interests and curiosity.

AP Seminar paper-students tie their question to the source material (guided inquiry). AP Research-students develop their own question. AP Seminar-students develop an argument-make claims etc. based on evidence.
